The Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is a historic site located in San Clemente, California, that was severely damaged by a landslide in April of this year. The landslide caused significant damage to the gardens, walking paths, and Ocean Terrace, and forced the closure of the site.
Since then, the city has been working diligently to study and restore the site, and recently announced that the Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens will partially reopen to the public at the end of May 2023. The partial reopening will include the gardens, the cultural center’s exterior, and certain portions of the interior.
The reopening will allow visitors to once again explore the site’s breathtaking gardens, which include native plants, fountains, and sculptures. Visitors will also be able to take in the cultural center’s exterior, featuring classic Spanish Colonial Revival architecture.
While the partial reopening is certainly cause for celebration, it’s important to note that certain portions of the cultural center’s interior will remain closed to the public as restoration efforts continue. This includes wedding ceremonies, which are a regular occurrence at Casa Romantica.
